    • In the field of control engineering, a study introduces enhanced hippopotamus optimization (EHO) to address the challenge of tuning PID controller parameters. EHO improves population diversity and global search, and outperforms other methods in accuracy, convergence speed, and stability. EHO is applied to tune the cascade PID controller for trajectory tracking in a quadrotor unmanned aerial vehicle, achieving lower integrals of the time absolute error for position channels.
